The artist has given the entirety of his £25k Mercury Prize winnings to the trust for venues, which operates to save the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.
Fender was awarded the award on mid-October as his new release People Watching was chosen as the top album of the previous year.
He has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages played in his beginning days.
"I would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was beginning," said Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.
In the last year, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits local stages.
He also joined in, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The money helped locations that were facing imminent closure due to issues arising from flooding, blazes and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.
Some locations received monetary aid in improving amenities and gear that directly benefitted artists and fans.
"The notion that revenue from shows in large arenas backs the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.
He is among several artists to contribute his honor prize money to good deeds.
In Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their release the album, frontman Cocker announced that the group would contribute their cash to the organization War Child.
During 2002, musician Ms Dynamite split her bounty between multiple charities, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"Additionally, I contributed a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with outlets.
Previously, they gave their prize money to the community center that supported their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.
Additionally the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a MS organization after a friend was identified with the illness.
"Winning was sufficient," stated vocalist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success touched somebody else's life."
In the past week, the MVT shared it had rescued two small stages in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.
One venue in that area and the other in the city were acquired under the public acquisition program, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who acquire "shares" in the properties.
