Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
